Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal, a veteran Muslim League leader was born on 25 December 1955 at Rahim Yar Khan (South Punjab, Pakistan). He belongs to a renowned Chelianwala family of Gujrat District, of Pakistan. His father Ch Mohammad Iqbal of Chelianwala was a prominent, popular and revered parliamentarian, elected to various assemblies of Pakistan. His father, brother, wife and daughter are or have been, members of the parliament. This renowned family has the rare distinction in Pakistan of producing four members of the parliament.
Coming from a highly educated political family, Ch. Jaffar Iqbal is an alumnus of distinguished educational institutions, like Sadiq Public School, Bahawalpur and Government College, Lahore. His father, a distinguished, venerable and popular politician died on the last day of his graduation examination, forcing him to enter into the arena of politics at an early age.
