NEW DELHI: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur ruled out playing cricket vis-à-vis Pakistan under the prevalent circumstances.
In an interview to Indian media, he said his country may withdraw from the upcoming World Cup so that it may not face Pakistan in the course of the tournament.
“History says in 1980, USA and in 1984, Russia pulled out of Olympics because they wanted to stand with their soldiers and their country. What stops India?” he said in a live television interview.
Anurag Thakur asserted in belligerent overtone, “Today, there is no question of playing with Pakistan in any bilateral series in 2016. And, the atmosphere does not allow it. Look at the diplomatic relations.” –SAMAA
