Panama case: PM’s counsel continues arguments

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has resumed the hearing of Panama Papers case on Thursday as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan is submitting his arguments.

The five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa is hearing the case filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and others seeking investigation into the Panama Papers.

Earlier, the Jamaat-e-Islami filed a petition in the court seeking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s appearance in the apex court to clarify the controversy that has arisen due to his National Assembly speech regarding his family’s alleged offshore assets.

In another development yesterday, Justice Khosa withdrew his previous observation in the case about implementation of Article 62 and 63 dealing with honesty and truthfulness of lawmakers. –SAMAA
