LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Saturday submitted an adjournment motion over a Punjab government notification that directed all academic and public libraries to purchase a book written on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The motion was moved by the PPP member Faiza Malik on Saturday. The motion said there is no need to place the book in public libraries, adding it is unconstitutional to bind libraries to buy the copies of Nawaz Sharif’s biography.

The motion demanded Punjab Assembly to hold a debate over the matter.

It should be mentioned here that Punjab government issued a notification to all the public and academic libraries of the province to keep the book based on the life and services of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif.

The provincial government’s Archives and Libraries Wing, Services and General Admin Department issued a notification urging the libraries to buy and keep the book titled as “Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Dastan-e-Hayat” authored by Tariq Ahmad Khan.|
