SC summons NAB, FBR chairmen in Panama case

ISLAMABAD: The Sharif Family Thursday filed new documents in Supreme Court regarding ownership of London flats as the apex court resumed it hearing into the Panama Papers case.

A five-member bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa is hearing the case on daily basis. Other bench members are Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan.

The bench is hearing petitions seeking disqualification of the prime minister over the investments made in offshore companies by members of his family.

Yesterday, the top court asked Sharif Family to provide details of the Qatar royal family’s investment in Pakistan and also submit conclusive documentary evidences establishing that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz is beneficial owner of Park Lane flats in London.

In today’s proceeding, senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja, representing sons of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, continued his arguments before the bench.

He answered the court’s questions about the Sharif Family’s properties in London.

Meanwhile, the court, before adjourning the case till Friday, issued orders to chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to share details of tax payment and assets of the Sharif family as well as Qatari investment in Pakistan.  – Samaa
