SHARJAH: Shahid Afridi, the Peshawar Zalmi allrounder, was ruled out of the Pakistan Super League final after injuring his hand during the play-off on Friday (March 3).
Afridi tried to catch a stinging drive off Karachi Kings’ Kieron Pollard in Dubai and had to receive 12 stitches on his right hand.
“Doctor has advised me ten days rest and I am very disappointed that I will not be part of the final in Lahore on Sunday.” said Afridi in a video message.
The 37-year-old allrounder is the most popular player in Pakistan. When he came to bat on Friday, a packed, 25,000-strong crowd at Dubai Stadium clapped and shouted ‘Boom-boom Afridi’.
He holed out for a first-ball duck and could bowl only two overs, giving away 27 runs.
Peshawar will take on Quetta Gladiators in the final on March 5. - Samaa
