The charismatic Younis Khan rescued Pakistan from a miserable position to a strong one with his unbeaten 133 runs.

Pakistan’s captain Misbah ul Haq won the toss and elected to bat first, the conditions were overcast and bowler friendly.

The same old story once repeated, Pakistan’s both the openers hunted down early in the innings by the opponent’s bowlers. Pakistan was 19-2 and Azhar Ali also fell after showing some resistance on 30 and Pakistan was 56-3.

Then the two old pros, YK and Misbah stepped up to the task and stabilized the sinking ship of Pakistan’s batting.

The two experienced campaigners put together a century partnership where the skipper contributed 31 runs before becoming a prey of Rangana Herath.

It was Asad Shafiq that  supported Younis Khan to the fullest, he looked to be a technically sound player that has all the shots in his book.

Asad Shafiq with his unbeaten 55 runs once again proved that he has all the ingredients to become a successful test player.

Younis Khan completed his 23rd ton and also it was at a much needed time when Pakistan was struggling.

Both Asad Shafiq and Younis Khan are still at the crease that must have been bothering Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews.

For Sri Lanka, Dhammika Prasad and Rangana Herath were the pick of the bowlers that struck twice in the day.
