ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen met with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Sardar Raza Khan on Tuesday.

During the meeting by-election in NA-246 constituency in Karachi was discussed. The by-election in the constituency will be held on April 23 and the seat fell vacant after Nabil Gabol left Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM).

Following the meeting Tareen spoke with reporters and informed them that Rangers would be deployed inside and outside of polling booths in NA-246. He added that the counting of votes would be complete in the presence of Rangers.

“Magisterial powers have been given to the Rangers so they can take action if there are any hurdles in the polling process,” Tareen said.

Tareen further said he had received reports that cameras would be fitted inside polling stations.
