Sanctions on Iran delayed IP gas pipeline project: Petroleum Minister

ISLAMABAD: The Minister of Petroleum, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has denied any external pressure on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline or the proposal to annul the project.

The Minister during the question hour in the senate stated that Iran has completed 900 kilometers gas pipeline from the South Pars gas field to Iranshehr. Work on rest of the 250 kilometers pipeline is expected to start soon.

While highlighting the progress made on the pipeline, he stated that Pakistan has completed phase-I of the project and work on phase-II will be started after international sanctions are lifted on Iran. He reiterated that the project has been delayed due to international sanctions imposed in Iran by the West.
