Pakistani education activist and the world's youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Malala Yousafzai, has aced her O'Levels exams, scoring A*s on six subjects and A grades in four subjects, her father said on Friday.

The 16-year-old activist got A* grades in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Religous Studies, while she received A's in History, Geography, and English Language and Literature.

Malala became a global icon after she was shot and nearly killed by the Taliban in October 2012 for insisting that girls had a right to an education.

Malala was 15 when the Taliban gunman shot her in the head as she travelled on a school bus in her native Swat valley. Although she almost died, she recovered after being flown for extensive surgery in Birmingham, central England.

She has been based in the city with her family ever since, continuing both her education and activism.
