ISLAMABAD: Taking a serious note of a theft at National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office Karachi, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has sought a report from the authority’s chief, Samaa reported.

“The minister has tasked NADRA chief with an immediate inquiry into the burglary on top of taking the staffers, who were sleeping on the job, to the toughest of tasks,” a spokesman for the authority said.

Khan also ordered the arrest of the security guard who was absent from his duty.

“He also asked Chairman NADRA to take immediate steps for further beefing up the security of the authorities offices across the country,” the representative added.

He, however, clarified that no data or national identity cards were stolen in the incident.

“A strict investigation is also underway right now,” said he.
