LAHORE: Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah says he has never accused anyone other than the officials of an agency in his March 2003 torture case complaint.

He was responding to a query about the claim of Naveed alias Commando, a convict in Bhola Gujjar murder case, that he had killed Khurram Bajwa, a gangster, for Rana Sana had told him Bajwa and the gangster’s accomplices were involved in the kidnapping and humiliation of Sana when he was picked up by a secret agency in 2003.

The minister said he had identified the accused by name in his complaint lodged with the police, in his press conferences and speeches delivered in the Punjab Assembly after his release. He said he never accused Bajwa or any other gangster.

Responding to a question, he said he was ready to give up his right to defence if it was proved he had ever met or phoned Commando, who claimed Sana called him “son”. He alleged Commando was being used for political reasons by his (Sana’s) rivals.

He claimed former SHO Farrukh Waheed, who had been declared a proclaimed offender in the murder case, had made abortive attempts to blackmail him if the minister did not give up pursuing the case and suspected the ex-police official could be behind the allegations aimed at involving him (Sana) in murder cases.

He said he was ready to join the investigations being conducted by an SP under court orders.
