Mr Sharif told Mr Grant, who had served as high commissioner in Pakistan, that indiscriminate action was being taken against terrorists under the Zarb-e-Azb army operation.
However, some social steps were needed to be taken for resolving this serious issue, he added.
He said that Pakistan wanted peaceful solution to all problems, including Kashmir, with India and sought the role of Britain in improving the situation in the region and also bringing peace in Afghanistan.
Mr Grant was quoted as assuring the CM that the British government would continue extending its full cooperation to the Punjab government for elimination of terrorism.
