BBC Arabic was launched on 1938 and is the first foreign language service of the BBC World Service. The programs of BBC Arabic are broadcast on the mediumwave and shortwave all over the middle east and north Africa. FM broadcasting is available for some areas.
It is broadcast from Bush House in London as well as from a BBC Bureau in Cairo.
The television news channel, BBC Arabic Television, launched on 11 March 2008. This, along with the radio service and website bbcarabic.com, completes the BBC''s plan to have Arabic language services available via all three mediums.
