Chaudhry Amir Hussain is a Pakistani politician. He was the 17th Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan, serving from 2002 to 2008.

Hussain was born in Sialkot, Punjab and was elected as Speaker of the National Assembly on November 19, 2002 succeeding Elahi Bux Soomro.

On October 2, 2007, 85 Pakistani opposition lawmakers resigned from the country's parliament to derail President Pervez Musharraf's re-election bid. The Parliament was to elect the new president before October 15. National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain stated that the resignations would not affect the presidential election.

Hussain was defeated in the February 2008 parliamentary election.

I am a factory owner in sialkot. I have not met him but alot of my employees live in his constituency. Mostly people like him, obviously it would be stupid of me to expected everyone to like him because i know the peoples mentality in this area. The only people who say they wont vote him are the ones from a different cast and vote strictly to their cast. but even they do not say that he is a bad man. I agree with the comment above about his SHARAFAT. He has been a federal minister for Youth, Parliamnetary affairs, Law (twice) and was the speaker in the former government. Alot of people say he used to travel in his private car without guards and police protocol and without a flag. I have not yet heard from a Single person that he has done any corruption from a single person...which is a big deal for someone who has been at such high posts. He has been an MNA 6 times and lost for the first time but people also say they did not vote for him this time because he was with musharraf. i am a PML-N man..i think he should leave PML-q and join nawaz sharif..We dont want people like our current Zilla Nazim to be incharge. He is a good man and should be in the parliament representing us.

seasoned politician yet very down to earth. people like him are very rarely found in pakistani politics. Had he been the chairperson of PMLQ pakistan would have been much different now. I believe its still the time for PMLQ to hand over its leadership to a mature person like Chaudhry Ameer Hussain.... May Allah pak Bless him and his family

A very humble and decent man. Its a shame he lost his last election because he did a lot of development in his constituency. He lost just because of Musharaf but people would have now realised that person in power now is a lot worse than Mush. He built a historical bridge, which I have seen personally ( thought people still make a stupid propaganda that its not there but I have seen it myself !!!) and he gave Sui gas to 183 villages in the last 5 years as compared to 4 villages by her opponent. and a lot of other things. Never misused his powers, Never blamed of any corruption in his 35 years career. People may argue about his political decisions nd I might as well but BANDA SHAREEF HAI !
