Jamshed Dasti is a former parliamentarian in Pakistan repersenting Muzaffargarh. His popularity was so much so that many in muzaffargarh called him 1122 referring to the accident and emergency number because he was always available unlike the feudals of the region. He is the former Pakistan People's Party MNA who quit the party and announced contesting election against former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar but later announced that he would not contest election.

A six-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case filed against his certificate in religious education. It become evident that Dasti presented a fake degree to prove his eligibility for elections. Later, he resigned from his office.

Jamshed Dasti informally rejected the court decision and in spite of losing moral ground, he decided to contest it by polls. He openly called the court decision a joke and claimed that the court of people of his district was the real court. The court did not give a decision, as Mr. Dasti voluntarily relinquished his post as MNA.

On 4th April 2013 Dasti was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 5000 Rupees fine for presenting a fake degree and breaching the public representation eligibility. Following the court verdict he was arrested from outside the courtroom. On foreseeing the court verdict he announced his decision of not contesting in the general elections of 2013 a day earlier the court announced the verdict.
