He is an award winning Pakistani journalist, editor, and media personality, the editor-in-chief of The Friday Times, a Lahore based political weekly, and previously the editor of Daily Times and Daily Aajkal newspapers. He also has a popular current-affairs program on Geo TV called "Aapas ki Baat" and owns Vanguard Books, a publishing house and chain of bookstores.

In 1999, he was arrested by Inter-Services Intelligence following an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation on government corruption, and detained for almost a month without charges. In 2008 and 2009, he was subject to death threats from Islamist groups for his papers' anti-fundamentalist stances.

Sethi won the 1999 International Press Freedom Award of the US-based Committee to Protect Journalists and the 2009 World Association of Newspapers' Golden Pen of Freedom Award.

On March 26, 2013, his name was approved for the interim position of the chief minister of Punjab as a result of consensus between members of the selection committee comprising individuals from both the governing and the opposing political parties. He took the oath on March 27.

On 6 June 2013, he stepped down in favor of the newly elected Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahbaz Sharif.

This traitor will InshAllah soon face the wrath in Supreme court. The Patriots of Pakistan have filed a case against this snake and all like him e.g. Hamid Mir, Asma Jahangir, Imtiaz Alam, Marvi Sermid etc. Enough is enough! They have done everything possible to damage the Ideology and Identity of Pakistan. No more! Pakistan Paendabad!

Kashmir Issue: The people of Kashmir have seen a lot of atrocities and crime against humans. The day India and Pakistan will be standing on a single platform the Kashmiri people will get the most required peace The LOC issue can be assumed as international border and Kashmiri people will be free to move work or trade throughout the Kashmir and for that matter throughout both nations. Siachin and other border Issues: When you have open trade and understanding these are minor things to negotiate. Hate against each other: The moment people will be educated they will know the facts and stop hating each other. Water issue: The water and rivers can be used in a much better way by construction of canals across border so that dry areas will get water that otherwise would flood some other places. Well this could be my innocent dream and could be mu illusion but I am writing to you because I feel this way. Nevermind thanks for reading my mail. May god bless all Pakistani People. Regards Komal Kumar Delhi India

Komal Kumar ( Delhi,India) Monday, May 30, 2011 12:49:45 AM (MDT - USA)
Dear Najam Sethi Sahab, Namaskar My Name is Komal Kumar, I am a Hindu and writing to you from Delhi India. I closely follow the developments in Pakistan through your program Aapas ki Baat through youtube. I know I am an outsider and have no right to suggest you anything but I feel like writing you and that’s why I am writing to you. I appreciate your analytical approach towards Pakistani issues in particular. I would like to communicate certain things to you and particularly to Pakistani people from my side. I am an ordinary citizen of India and what I am expressing here is my gut feel from an Indian prospective for India and Pakistan situation. I hope you and your country men will take my thoughts sportingly. Pakistan Problems and Solutions: 1. The situation in Pakistan is very grim and very bad I can compare the given situation of Pakistan with 1977 of India at that time India also was facing the problems like corruption in politics, lawlessness and illiteracy. I was very young at that time but I still remember those times when everything was in shortage from milk to petrol to cement to what not. Nothing was available easily rate of unemployment was very high. Then came the era of emergency for two years where the main focus of the government was to eradicate hoarding upholding the rule of law containing ill practices so that the system can deliver. The exercise was very harsh in nature but had done many things in order and after all those disciplinary things a fair election was held. Though I don’t suggest emergency as a solution but it helped India to get things in order. 2. I am afraid to say the politicians you have are champions of corruption though our politicians are also not clean but the politicians you have are not good people so the Pakistani people should have an election with under written statement none of the current politicians and their relatives so that an entirely new team can replace these corrupt politicians.

please do a programm that in Islamabad where there were only mosques, have now a very huge madrassas in the heart of Islamabad and how they get permission to build these madressas and from where they get money and where is law to curtail the number of students in these madressas. all the remaining students of lal mosque are now in the a Madressa in the G-7/3, Islamabad. similarly in G-9/2 where few years ago where there was a little mosque of shia community is now a very large complex. then where are the authorities who check them. I feel , they have gone in long sleep or their own vested interests.
