Shaukat Javed, a grade-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, was appointed as the new inspector general of police (IGP) Punjab.
Shaukat Javed, who is from the 2nd common training programme, has been serving as Intelligence Bureau Punjab joint director general for the past four-and-a-half years. Javed started his career with the police as an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in 1978 in Sargodha. He served as Lahore Range deputy inspector general (DIG) of police during the tenure of former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif. Javed was one of the five aIGs interviewed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif for the IGP slot.
