Zahid Hamid (Born 24 October 1947) is a Pakistani Politician and a Member of National Assembly of Pakistan currently serving as Federal Minister for Science & Technology in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's cabinet.
Education
He got his early education from Lahore. He then attended the University of Cambridge, where he obtained his B.A. (Hons) and M.A. degree. He then obtained his LLB from University of Punjab. In 1970 he joined the Civil Service of Pakistan and held various field and staff appointments in the Government of the Punjab before resigning in 1975. As an entrepreneur, he set up and managed two industrial units in the food sector during 1978-1988.
Political career
He ran for the Parliament of Pakistan in General elections of 2002, 2008 and 2013 from Constituency NA-114 winning all three times. He has previously served as Minister of State for Defense, Federal Minister for Privatization and Investment, and Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights. On 23 June 2013, he was appointed as Federal Minister for Science & Technology by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
